wall of skulls

Drawings of skulls made into repeat patterns, a la catacombs.

Here they are repeated, large enough to be desktop wallpapers, if you were so inclined. (click for larger)

cross bones gate

cross keys gate
cross keys gate

I'd heard about this from a friend a while ago, and just stumbled upon it by accident the other day, wandering around South London. Strange place. There was a prostitutes and paupers unconsecrated cemetery here from at least the C16th to 1853. Closed due to being 'completely overcharged with dead'. Now there's nothing to see, except these gates which have been turned into a memorial. Strange little messages written on ribbons & tied to it.

Worth a look:

Francis Alÿs

I am in love with his Re-Enactment. I can only find this little clip of it online though:

Go see the show at Tate Modern. So good i got out of breath.

Day trip

We went on a day trip to Lewes, Pimms-in-a-can in hand. Upon arrival it started to rain torrentially so we just moped around and played pictionary in a pub. The photos came out nice though.

Fun times.

piano key kit kat

I found a smashed piano in the street, as I was eating a dark chocolate kit kat. Cue piano key kit kat:

A good-luck-in-exams gift for my brother. I was obsessed with making miniature things when I was a kid, so yesterday I thought I'd see how small a dog I could make. It's pretty small.

car boot sale finds

stuffed boar

I regret not buying this so much. £65 suddenly seems like a really good price for a stuffed baby boar.

Also at the same stall they were selling genuine human bones. Not replica. 100% human remains.

Topman fame

Last summer I did an internship with Topman design, and they've just released a tshirt using drawings I did for them (they've collaged the drawings together, that's not my design). The best bit is they've put googly eyes on the skull I drew. I'm not sure I've ever found anything more hilarious. It's got such a happy little face now. Check it:

He is having the time of his flippin' life. If you want him to be having the time of his life on your chest, you can buy the tshirt here. I don't get any money from it though so don't buy it as a favour to me. Buy it out of love for the skull.

Degree show

display case

My space in the degree show, ready to open to the public. It's open from Saturday - Thursday @ Brighton University Grand Parade building. Private view is tomorrow, everyone's getting dressed up. It's like our debutante coming out ball; coming out to the world as Illustrators and Graphic Designers. It's gonna be good.

Books in bulk

mass production

A5, black and white printed copies of my book Onwards, about an army of girls fighting with knives against shadowy bad guys. The original books are colour and hard bound, but I wanted to make a version that would be more economical to sell. They're for sale at my etsy: http://www.kayeblegvad.etsy.com.

Spent all day making 20 of these. Sore hands, stiff wrists. Satisfying to pile 'em up though.
